My Story

I should probably introduce myself since I plan on being your Meraki Motivational Specialist.

My name is Lauren and I am a writer of sorts, and a Meraki Enthusiasts. If you’ve read the ‘About’ section of this blog, you will know that Meraki simply means to do something wholeheartedly and to put the essence of your soul into what it is that you are doing.

I haven’t always been a Meraki Enthusiast; I’ve had my fair share of struggles, which did lead me to develop a real negative mindset. You see, I used to suffer from Bipolar Type II Disorder. Now when I say “used to” I don’t mean that I have been miraculously cured of this mental illness, but rather, I have learned to manage it and live a more abundant and prosperous life.

Bipolar, particularly the depression side of it, has robbed me of many joys in the past, including jobs, friends, and relationships.

Bipolar has also had a huge impact on my physical health, and I have had issues with my weight, and constantly feeling drained of energy. Whenever I would go into a cycle of depression I would tend to binge eat and wouldn’t know when to stop, which caused me to gain weight quite rapidly.

After going through a hard time in my life and hitting rock bottom, I made the conscious decision to turn my life around.  I vowed to stop being the negative person of my past. I told myself that life has so much more to offer than what I had been experiencing and that only I had the power to change my own experiences.

So I did some research and I looked into what I could do to heal and become my best self. Diet and meditation have been a big part of my recovery, as well as adjusting my mindset and attitude about life.  It wasn’t easy, though, I definitely had some setbacks. But, the road to success will always consist of trial and error, and that’s what I tried to member through my transformation.

I decided to blog about my continuous journey in the hopes of inspiring and encouraging others who may be facing hard times. I want others to know that it is possible to make a positive change in your life, it’s not easy, but it is possible.

If you are someone that is looking for motivation and encouragement to become your best self, I hope that you do reach out to me, as I would love to share my knowledge and experience with you.
